It’s hectic, loud, overflowing with holidaymakers. However we are going further south, along a coast that is in the process of rapid ‘development’.

We pass Dyuni, an Austrian-designed ‘holiday village’ on one of the long sandy beaches in the area, cross the Ropotamo river and a short time later come to the outskirts of Primorsko which still has one of these—now disused—internal border control points and is also a ballooning resort, half-built hotels running along the beaches in both directions. We arrive at the hotel where we are going to stay for three nights — that feels like a luxury. It means we can get some washing done and spread ourselves out in the room…
